Where were you when
we needed your help?
by
Bill Goshorn Saturday July
8, 2000. A small crew of
nineteen showed up to save the Boy Scout Camp at Lake Berryessa
from the Bureau of Land Reclamation who had made it very clear that we
need to get a lot of work done. Despite sending out e-mail to
everyone I knew and asking those people to send out more e-mail, the
same "old" volunteers showed up to get the job
done. When you see them, tell
them, "Thank you for saving our camp." Next time
the call goes out, please try to give a little of your time to
help. Scouting gets things done on the backs of its
volunteers. Let's not break the backs of the few, when many should
be available. If we had more people, we could
have done more. Far too few people showed
up. I was rather disappointed to say the least with the scouting
volunteers, especially from Napa and Lake Districts who also use the
camp. You are welcome to comment in the discussion
