DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: Silver Gate District Backpacking Trip to Tahoe National Forest, near Emigrant Pass, CA

DATE: Friday, June30th to Tuesday, July 4th, 2000
Time leaving: Approximately 3:00 p.m., June 30th, from Benicia
Time Returning: Approximately 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 4th
Place returning to: To be advised by Trek Advisors
Transportation: (by private vehicle) To be coordinated by Trek Advisors
Cost of Event: Approximately $50.00 for the five-day event.

NAME OF SCOUT _________________________________________

This outing will be a five-day backpacking trip into the Tahoe National Forest in the area north of Emigrant Pass, north of Cisco Grove. To participate Scouts/Venturers/Explorers are required to be physically fit and in good standing with his Unit. Travel will be via private vehicle.

There are no convenient stores during the trip with the exception of travel to and from the trailhead. We will stop prior to arriving at the trailhead, and on returning to Vallejo/Benicia. It is suggested that Scouts/Venturers/Explorers have money for stops at fast food restaurants. Each participant is required to have a "brown bag" dinner for Friday evening. Tuesday lunch may be at a fast food restaurant when returning back to the Bay Area. All other meals during this trek will be provided. Travel costs are not included in the sum above and said costs will be addressed amongst the participants prior to departure to the Sierra’s.

"Class B" T-Shirts are the dress of the day and are REQUIRED to be worn during travel. Hiking boots are required to be worn on this trip. Sneakers or light athletic shoes will not be permitted except as for use while in camp. Group equipment and food will be equally distributed amongst the participants. Light packing is strongly encouraged. This is a rain or shine activity, BE PREPARED

In consideration of the benefits to be derived, and in view of the fact that Boy Scouts of America is an educational organization, membership in which is voluntary, and having full confidence that every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety and well being of my son(s)/ward(s) during this activity or trip, I hereby agree to his (their) participation and waive all claims against the leaders of this activity or trip, officers, agents, and representatives of the Boy Scouts of America.
