What: 5 day (4 night) Backpacking Trek
When: Friday afternoon to Tuesday Afternoon
June 30th through July 4th, 2000
Where: Tahoe National Forest, Near Emigrant Pass, Cisco Grove
Who: Venturers and Scouts, and adult leaders/Advisors
How: Permission Slip attached.
Cost: $50.00 per person estimated - $20.00 deposit required to
register
The District’s annual backpacking trek is scheduled to take place
from Friday June 30th to Tuesday, July 4th (we’ll
be home for dinner). All Venture’s and Scouts, 14 years and graduated
from 8th grade, are eligible to go if they show an interest
in having fun, able to hike, and be able to enjoy the greater outdoors.
The backpacking trek is anticipated to cover approximately 30 miles. We
will have the opportunity to swim daily.
Cost includes food and provisions during the trek. Travel to and from
the trailhead is via private vehicle. We will stop at fast food
restaurants during travel to and return from trailhead. Fast food costs
and travel costs are not included in the estimated trek amount stated
above. Scouts will need to coordinate with their parent’s travel on
Friday afternoon. Return Tuesday afternoon will be directly to the
Scouts home. Please indicate if you can drive on the permission slip
attached.
Requirements: Permission slips must be immediately completed and
returned with a $20.00 CHECK (no cash please) to Tom Harryman, to
secure your reservation. For planning and food purchasing purposes,
permission slips need to be returned immediately, no later than June
3rd. Please call Tom if you are planning to go so food preparation can
be started. |
