DONATIONS REQUESTED
Patrick Rettinhouse, a
nine year old Cub Scout from Vallejo’s Pack 118, has embarked on a
massive service project. While
attending a scouting event at the local Army recruiter’s office he
determined that service men and women needed supplies not issued to them
by the military.
Most of us would comment on the issue, but
Patrick decided to fill a need. He
researched web sites for organizations that collect and distribute goods
to our troops overseas. He
selected a unit with a local serviceman in it.
He created a flyer to advertise those items, collected,
inventoried, sorted and housed a great deal of items in preparation to
ship.
On Friday, April 22, he shipped his
first two boxes. Patrick does
not plan on stopping here. He
wants to create a web page so that other units can ask for help and so
he can publish the wish list to a greater
number of people.
Patrick’s actions exemplify the spirit of scouting.
His unselfish dedication to another’s needs is exactly what we as
scout leaders hope to instill in our young men. Patrick Rettinhouse of Pack 118 is collecting
supplies for our men and women in the service.
To get a list of what donations are needed, email him at marettin@sbcglobal.net
or call 643-7053 before 8 PM. Money
is also accepted to help defray the shipping costs. (Posted
